This first sock is my first sock ever, knitted for the Wee Tiny Sock Swap 2008. It's somewhat misshapen, but it's okay. It still resembles a sock. After I turned the heel and picked up the stitches on the side, it somehow twisted itself a bit, and I can't figure out why. Maybe I need help and more practice with Magic Loo. I just hope the pal I sent it to doesn't think I'm a dork for not knowing how to knit a sock, but signing up for a sock swap. Gotta start somewhere though, don't I? I'm happy with the way it turned out.
This is my first pair of real socks to be worn. I figured out how to do Magic Loop using the book, and it was pretty easy. I love this yarn (Fortissima Sock with Bamboo), and think it will make the socks nice and smooshy. I'm doing the Winter Sock pattern from the Magic Loop book for this pair.
I didn't make this next sock. It's the one I received from my Wee Tiny Sock Pal. Isn't it just adorable?? I love it! I'm either going to attach it to my classroom key lanyard so my students can see it too, or attach it to my knitting bag zipper. The other pics are the yarn information (so you can make your own pirate socks), and a picture of all the goodies that came with my sock. This was such a fun project, and I will definitely participate again.
I found a pattern for Booby Socks that you knit to honor breast cancer victims. Proceeds from the sale of the kits goes to support breast cancer research. They're only making a limited number of kits and yarn, so get yours quick!
How can anyone not love knitting socks??

Yay! I've just started knitting socks myself (I've finished one, and I've started the second, so I may actually have a pair by the end of April?). I love how quickly they work up, compared to shawls or sweaters!
Not a dork at all! It's best to start small I think. My first sock took me almost 3 months to finish and it wasn't until 6 months after that that I picked up the sock needles again. I love the little sock and so do all my daughter's little preschool friends. One girl wanted to know if she could have it for the dollies in the classroom. C (my daughter) said 'Sorry but no, it's a very special sock just for my mom. She won't even let ME have it' hehe
